Adger Smith With a background in Mechanical Engineering, Adger Smith started building racing engines. His success was immediate. In 1971 his 302 Chevy set a National Record and won a National Event sponsored by the IHRA, in addition to numerous wins at local drag strips. In 1972 he repeated the same feat and won a National Event and set a record for ET and MPH in his class. In June of 1999 at Mid-Michigan Dragway in Staton, Michigan he set the IHRA National Record in D/Street Roadster and again in Sept. at Cordova, IL he set the E/Altered record. After a racing accident in Sept. 99' at Cordova Jim Cornett assumed the driver's seat for Adger and attained a second place finish in Modified Elim. at the 2000 Division 4 WCS series at West Texas Raceway in Odessa and at Lone Star Raceway in Sealy, TX They finished 3rd in Div.4 that season. Again in 2001 Adger was crew chief for his car with Bubba Kirkland doing the driving finished 2nd at the Red River Raceway Div. 4 WCS. In 2003 a 1982 V-6 Camaro was built and in July '04 at Milan MI with Michael Beard, the Stock World Champ driving they set the SS/BX National Record on the first pass. Adger resumed driving on August 6,04' and reset the SS/BX record while qualifying #1 at the IHRA Pro Am series race at Red River. Since 1972 he has successfully built engines for Drag Racing, Dirt Track, Asphalt Oval, Drag Boat and Mud Racing. His ability to select the combination of parts and perform the machine work put many of his customers in the winners circle. By staying on top of the latest technology in parts and machining techniques he keeps his customers finishing "Out Front" In addition to his race engines he offers a full line of custom built engines for Recreation Vehicles, Marine, 4 Wheel Drive, Super Street and Stock.
